RIL deplores RCOM’s “double standard”

New Delhi: Hitting back at the Anil Ambani group for “twisting facts” on the de-merger agreements signed by the group companies of Ambani siblings, elder brother Mukesh’s side accused it of “double standard and doublespeak.”

Charging the Anil Ambani group with “taking things out of context and misrepresenting agreements between two groups,” sources close to Mukesh’s Reliance Industries dared RCOM and the South African telecom giant MTN, which are in negotiations for an amalgamation deal, to make their legal position clear on the RIL’s claim on the right of first refusal.

“It is surprising that even after receiving a legal written letter from RIL, both RCOM and the MTN have not replied stating their legal position,” the sources said.

Declines comment

An RIL spokesperson declined comment on the controversy over the negotiations between RCOM and the MTN for a possible $70 billion merger deal, while an RCOM spokesperson said a reply was sent to RIL on Saturday. — PTI
