Chatholi Hamza impresses

KOCHI: India’s Chatholi Hamza came close to his personal best as he finished second in the men’s 1500 metres at the BMC Nike Elite Athletics Meet at Watford, near London, on Sunday.

The 27-year-old Services star clocked 3:40.1 and appears to be very near the Olympic qualification mark of 3:39.00 secs. Uganda’s Moses Kipsiro won the title in 3:37.6 secs.

In the women’s 1500m, Sinimole Paulose was far away from her best, and the Olympic qualification standard (4:08.00), as she won the silver in 4:13.15 secs. — Principal Correspondent
