Anand Pawar bows out

New Delhi: Indian shuttler Anand Pawar failed to make it to the main draw of the Indonesian Open tournament as he suffered a 17-21, 18-21 loss to Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark in the qualifying of the Super Series event in Jakarta.

In the other men’s singles qualifiers, ace shuttler Anup Sridhar will lock horns with the 16th ranked Joachim Persson of Denmark while Arvind Bhat will clash with local lad Alamsyah on Wednesday.

Olympic qualifier Saina Nehwal will take on local favourite Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari in the women’s singles. —PTI
