BANGALORE: In a bid to make life simple for anxious engineering aspirants and their parents as they face the ongoing seat selection process, the Karnataka Examinations Authority has put up on its website (kea.kar.nic.in) a performance analysis of all colleges coming under the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). The list is exhaustive with subject listings and the number of students who passed with first class, distinction or second class from 2002. The records have been compiled by the university and put up on the website for the benefit of students. Several anxious parents have been turning up at the counselling centre asking for details on colleges and their track records. This site will come as a relief to them. Earlier, the KEA had announced that a ranking system based on accreditation and performance of the college would be brought in next year. For the second consecutive day, electronics and communication engineering continued to be the most sought after subject with 481 of 1,261 students opting for it. While 335 students opted for computer science, 126 students opted for information science. Rank holders with ranks ranging from 3,001 to 4,700 will attend counselling on Wednesday. On Tuesday evening, 30,037 seats remained in 141 colleges in the State. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
