Founder-director of Kuchipudi Kalakendram and renowned exponent of Kuchipudi, Ms. A.B. Balakondala Rao organised a full fledged dance recital by her disciples Yamini of standard X and Chandni of standard VIII at Kalabharati last Sunday. Thanks to the sustained interest evinced by their parents Indukuri R.K. Raju and Radhika, the girls popularly known as Indukuri sisters, have been trained intensely by guru Bala for about six years. They were selected to participate in minor roles in her dance ballets for the Kalakendram earlier. After getting off to an absorbing start paying obeisance to Vinayaka with Sriganapathini of Thyagaraja (Sowrashtram), they together presented Vedalera Vayyarulu (Kedaragowla) from Devulupalli’s Vipranarayana, Narayantheerdha’s Tarangam Radhika Krishnam (Kambhoji), Annamayya’s Kulukaga Nadavaro (Athana), Tulasidas bhajan
Sriramachandra (Ragamalika) and concluded with Srikrishna Mangalam. Yamini presented solos too, Rukmini Pravesadaruvu (Raagamalika) and Andal keertana (Kapi) in between. Fulfilling all aspects of presentation of classical dance on the stage, posture, gesture, body movement, footwork and last but not the least, exquisite expression through swift movements in the eyes in particular with incredible felicity, the sprightly looking girls danced their way into the hearts of all in the auditorium. Bala provided expert nattuvangam creating a scintillating effect in the able company of evocative vocals by Dwaram Thyagaraju, precise beat on mridangam by her son Anand Srihari, violin by Satyavishal and veena by M. Satyanarayana. Costume by Kurmarao and make-up by Chiranjeevi were excellent.
