Why aren’t many people coming forward to take up EEE now? What is its scope?

Every engineering branch has its significance. It depends on the choice of the student. Today most jobs are available in service sector. EEE students are mostly absorbed in the core sector unlike ECE. Core sector means sectors like power. EEE has many opportunities and students are not opting for it due to lack of awareness.

What is aeronautical engineering?

Aeronautical engineering deals with making engines of aircrafts and other parts whereas avionics deals with the software in an aircraft. Considering the boom in aviation sector there is a great need for aeronautical engineers. Avionics deals with designing the controls and cockpit equipment of the aircraft. It is an important specialization with lot of job opportunities. However jobs come in plenty maybe only after you pursue your masters. Another related course is aircraft maintenance engineering which is a certificate course and not a degree.

Which is better? BDS course in Manipal or AP?

In AP there are a lot of BDS colleges and most of the colleges are doing very well and many offer post graduation. Choose a college where there is an existing post-graduation degree.

What is the scope of animation and is it offered in engineering colleges? Is Information and communication technology (ICT) course offered in AP?

No, it is not part of engineering. It is offered as an elective. There are other colleges which teach animation specifically. ICT is not offered at present in Andhra Pradesh as a separate branch but a few combinations are present in some colleges in AP.

Which is better? A course in BITS Hyderabad or in OU Hyderabad?

As BITS Hyderabad is going to be established now, and it would take time for it to establish here, in such a scenario, University campus is better.

Which is better a government engineering college or private engineering college?

Government colleges have an advantage because of good faculty. But if you are interested in a particular branch which is not available in a government college then you can opt for good private college. Some government colleges have also got financial assistance from World Bank and you can try and join in these colleges. Try to be in a college which is closer to Hyderabad as there are a lot of inputs from private organizations and you can be up to date with technology.

What are the job prospects for chemical engineering?

Any engineering course has lot of scope. Any raw material to be converted into a product, it has to undergo many processes involving chemicals. Almost everything we use is chemically processed. India’s top industrialists like Mukesh Ambani and others are chemical engineers. You can join any manufacturing industry and also go towards research and development. A student of chemical engineer can also specialize in various fields like biotechnology, environmental engineering and others. If you want to move into service industry like IT which has many branches, then functional knowledge is necessary.

Which is better - SVU or JNTU syllabus?

The syllabus in JNTU is being revised every two years i.e., new subjects are added to this syllabus thereby increasing employability. Other universities revise their syllabus for every four years. If you are keen to study new subjects choose JNTU. If the student is focused then the syllabus doesn’t matter.

What is the difference between ECE and EIE?

Electronics is common in both. In one area they teach communications and in the other instrumentation. Any industry where there is proper instrumentation required, necessary controls etc, in such areas, instrumentation is the heart. There is lot of scope in EIE and there are a lot of job openings in Middle East. Also you can enter any other area too such as IT.

Can MPC students cope with the life sciences in biotechnology?

Yes, they can we are giving basics in life sciences. However it is a based more in chemistry and MPC students are having an advantage as the other subjects are maths based.

What are the prospects for B. Sc Microbiology?

Microbiology is an important component of Biotechnology and has lot of scope in R & D. Also students of BSc microbiology may join B. Tech biotechnology in second year through lateral entry.

Which is better? Best branch or best college?

A college which helps develops soft skills and personality development of its students is good and should be chosen over one that doesn’t do the same. Also colleges are divided according to accreditation and unaccredited. It is not enough if the college has good infrastructure and equipment but it should have a good faculty. 80-90 per cent of a college’s performance is based on the faculty. So ensure that the college has a good faculty. First go in for accredited institutes and look at the faculty in each department and then chose your branch. Can girls take up aeronautical engineering / mechanical engineering?

In aero engineering there is design and manufacture. Design includes designing software and developing the applications. Girls can take up design and development and also can opt for avionics. These days factories depend on advanced software technology and hence girls needn’t be in a shed all day and can pursue it.

What is the purpose of local rank?

Each region in the state has colleges. 85 per cent of the seats in a region are reserved for the locals. There is no separate reservation for non-locals. Local rank gives us an idea as to which branch and in which college one can get admission. It is useful for estimation.

What are job prospects for students who wish to pursue engineering from any branch apart from IT and Computer science?

It is the aptitude and attitude of the graduate that matters. Companies are looking for students with good logical aptitude, problem solving capacity and right attitude. It doesn’t matter which branch you are from. Companies are student specific and not branch specific. As long as you have the zeal to study and understand the basics of your subject it is enough.

What is the difference between ECE and ECM and job prospects in both?

ECE involves electronic design in hardware. ECM looks at integration of hardware and software.

The job prospects are aplenty in both.
