Cops questioned about missing evidence

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has questioned eight Noida policemen in connection with the missing clothes of Krishna, the compounder of Dr. Rajesh Talwar, Aarushi’s father and the prime accused in the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case.

Talking to reporters on Friday, CBI Joint Director (Special Crime) Arun Kumar said they were trying to ascertain through the Noida policemen as to what clothes Krishna was wearing when he was picked up for questioning for the first time. The CBI is searching for the clothes to send them for forensic examination.

The Noida Police personnel were reportedly questioned about the evidence that went missing or got destroyed during the preliminary stages of investigation.

Mr. Kumar said the report on the contents of a digital camera seized from Dr. Talwar’s residence had been received, but did not reveal its findings stating that they were part of the ongoing investigations.

Dr. Talwar, who is lodged in Dasna Jail, was brought to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory here on Friday and subjected to a lie-detector test for the second time. The set of questions for the test had been framed keeping in view the statements of his wife Nupur, Krishna and others. The test went on till late afternoon. The interrogation of Raj Kumar, the domestic help of Dr. Talwar’s family friends Durranis, and Vijay Mandal, the servant of the dentist’s neighbour, was continuing.

The CBI officers have so far conducted the lie-detector test on Dr. Talwar, Nupur, Krishna, Raj Kumar and Vijay Mandal. They have conducted extensive searches but have not yet been able to recover the weapon of crime and the mobile phones of Aarushi and Hemraj.
