Sanaa Bhambri. GURGAON: Sanaa Bhambri played her best game of the tournament to defeat Sung-Hee Han of Korea 7-5, 6-1 in the final of the $10,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament at the NTA Complex here on Saturday. A determined Sanaa matched the intensity of strokeplay of the fleet-footed Korean, spanking winners much to the delight of the sparse gathering. The 20-year-old recovered from an indifferent start to crush the challenge of Hang, for her second singles title at this level. Sanaa had won her last singles title two years back in Ahmedabad. Having changed to her favourite racquet brand recently, Sanaa looked to have regained her winning touch, as she fought her way through in tough three-setters in the last two rounds. Recovers wellIn the final, she had to be at her best, and Sanaa did well to break back in the third game after having lost serve in the second. Thereafter, it was Sanaa all the way. “I am glad to have played my best tennis in the final and happy to finish so well,” said a delighted Sanaa. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
