Woman, son die in suicide pact

CHILAKALURIPET: After falling prey to the guiles of a ‘fortune-teller’, a woman and her son died in a suicide pact late on Saturday night. The deceased were identified as Padmavathi and her son Sai (22), a visually-challenged boy.

The incident took place after a person posing as a fortune-teller entered their home at Puroshottapatnam on Saturday afternoon claiming to clear their ‘dosham’ after performing a ‘pooja’.

He then asked for gold valuables to be placed in a vessel and said it should be reopened after taking bath. The shocked inmates found the vessel empty when they opened it.

Unable to digest the loss, the woman procured a pesticide bottle and consumed it along with her son.
