HYDERABAD: The proposal to stop a few express trains at Malkajgiri railway station dominated the proceedings at the 43rd Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting organised by Hyderabad Division of South Central Railway (SCR) recently.

Following repeated representations from Malkajgiri residents to halt Krishna Express at Malkajgiri railway station, Hyderabad division of SCR had acknowledged the plea. It had also proposed to halt four other express trains, including Visakhapatnam Express, Devagiri Express, Manmad Express and Manmad - Madurai Express at the station during the 42nd DRUCC meeting held in February earlier this year. However, nothing concrete had been done till date. When the issue was raised during the 43rd DRUCC meeting, Hyderabad Divisional Railway Manager, Rajiv Vishnoi informed that the proposal was already sent to SCR Headquarters for consideration. He also informed that the trains would be provided a halt under the new SCR time-table which is to be released next month, said Hyderabad DRUCC member Noor.
