HYDERABAD: The GHMC is seeking lifting of the ban on controlled blasting in the twin cities for a limited period for taking up a few crucial works on the bed of River Musi. GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer C.V.S.K. Sarma wrote to Police Commissioner B. Prasada Rao a few days ago seeking permission to allow controlled blasting on the river bed to break the rock base for a period of one month. The work is said to be for preparing ground to take up the two rubber dams being proposed over the river as part of the its conservation and beautification plan. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
