HYDERABAD: The first meeting on the District Agromet Advisory Service for the State held at Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University here on Monday decided to generate the first district-level weather forecast on June 28. The forecast would be utilised for the preparation of crop and area-specific advisories and ultimately the district agricultural officers and other extension agencies would disseminate the advisories to the farming community. Farmers would be able to carry out appropriate weather-sensitive agricultural operations for better crop production. An official press release said the advisories would also be communicated through AIR, Doordarshan, private TV and radio channels, mobile phone/SMS, newspapers, Internet, virtual academy/universities/NGOs, KVKs/kisan call centres/ICAR and other related institutes/agricultural universities/extension network of the State/Central Agriculture departments. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
