Mayor for auction of MCD properties

NEW DELHI: Mayor Arti Mehra on Tuesday demanded permission of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to allow the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to dispose of its strategically located properties for generating revenue.

This revenue would be used for development of slums and jhuggi-jhonpri colonies where the poorest sections of society live.

“We hope to generate revenue of around Rs.2,500 crore from sale of selected properties and annually earn Rs.250 to Rs.300 crore interest on them,” she added.
