NEW DELHI: Taking another step in the direction of promoting transport operating on clean energy sources, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit launched the REVA Electric Car Company’s REVAi at a function at Delhi Secretariat on Wednesday.

Coming as it does at a time when the prices of petroleum and diesel have touched a new high, the launch of the advanced REVAi – that would cost Rs.2.99 lakh onward on road depending on the model – is in tune with the policy announcement towards emission reduction of the Delhi Government. REVAi will also benefit from this policy as it would get the owner of the battery-operated vehicle a 15 per cent subsidy on the base price of the vehicle, a 12.5 per cent exemption of VAT and refund of road tax and registration charges.

Though it is priced almost at par with the other entry level cars, REVAi would offer people a noiseless and emission-free city transport solution. It also has a host of technological advancements and features that will benefit both the users and the environment. REVAi is a two-door hatch back that can seat two adults and two children.
