Review meet conducted on land acquisition for irrigation projects Kakinada: Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi ordered the Irrigation Department officials to complete the second phase of the Pushkar lift irrigation scheme by the end of August and to expedite the process of land acquisition for irrigation projects in general. He said the national highway and railway line crossing works related to the Pushkar scheme had to be speeded up. Addressing a review meeting on land acquisition for irrigation projects here on Thursday, Mr. Dwivedi instructed officials of the Agriculture, Horticulture and other departments to assess the value of crops and trees required to be cleared for the projects to be able to decide compensation matters. He also ordered that construction of houses for those facing displacement by Musurumilli, Bhupathipalem and Surampalem projects be executed as per schedule. Steps should be taken to ensure uninterrupted power supply to minor lift irrigation schemes on which a large number of farmers were dependent, he added.
