Rajesh Talwar’s bail application rejected

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A Ghaziabad Sessions court on Thursday rejected the bail application of Rajesh Talwar, arrested in connection with the murder of his daughter Aarushi and the family’s domestic help Hemraj, saying there were reasonable grounds at this stage to suspect his involvement in the case.

The CBI counsel said it was a blind murder case and submitted that investigations were at a crucial stage. Dr. Talwar’s counsel pleaded that the agency had not found any concrete evidence against him so far.

The court observed that what was most astonishing was that Aarushi was found murdered in a room the keys of which were with Dr. Talwar and his wife. Aarushi had gone to her room around 11:45 p.m. on May 15.

The order said: “Under the above circumstances, definitely there are reasonable grounds at this stage to suspect the involvement of the accused with the offence only for the purpose of bail matters.”

The court further observed that in the FIR registered on May 16, Dr. Talwar had alleged that his daughter had been murdered by his domestic help Hemraj and that he had disappeared “since last night” (May 15), while his statement recorded under the Section 161 of the Cr.PC, he says that on May16 morning, he had asked his wife Nupur about Hemraj and she had replied that he might have gone for some work.
