Floods claim more lives in West Bengal

Kolkata: The death toll in the recent floods in Purbo and Paschim Medinipur districts of West Bengal has risen to 53, according to reports reaching the State government here on Friday.

Though the overall situation had improved, large areas still remain submerged. More than 3.5 million people have been affected.

Reports of attack of diarrhoea among victims have been reaching the authorities.

More than 400 medical teams been sent to the two districts.
