Pure as diamond!

More and more people are succumbing to the lure of diamonds

Diamonds once used to be the exclusive preserve of the rich and super-rich. But now, thanks to the burgeoning economy, there is a profusion of jewellers and diamond merchants offering diamond pieces and ornaments. And they come in a stunning variety of styles and range. There are earrings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets, nose pins and more such stuff to be had, set either in yellow or white gold or even in platinum.

While there are familiar diamond merchants like Orra, Nakshatra, Tanishq, D’Damas and Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri, many new and lesser known players, are vying for a slice of the lucrative ‘diamond’ space in the market. For instance, there is this Nirvana Diamond Jewellery which offers a blend of modern designs, sleek finish and classy looks. You can choose from its diamond collection, rings, bangles, earrings, etc., that are a mixture of white and yellow gold and speak of excellent craftsmanship. Prices start from as low as Rs.5000.

Borrowing from European design sense, settings and embellishment techniques, Ghanasingh Jewellery Design House offers some exquisite diamond jewellery pieces. The combination of diamonds with gold, ruby and Tahitian pearls give that additional touch of elegance to all jewellery pieces that range from bracelets to pendants, bangles to earrings and from necklaces to rings. It also has a collection of diamond jewellery made of pearls, gemstones, diamond studs, solitaires and loose diamonds. You can pick up the diamonds from G-9, South Extension-I.

Jubilant colours

Payal Gupta, a young jewellery designer has come out with her collection of ‘Alhambra’, a range of diamond jewellery infused with the jubilant colours of precious stones. She has used pearls and stones like opal and turquoise with diamonds. The stones are inlaid in 18K gold to ensure long lasting lustre. Ganjam Jewellery has recently come out with its platinum collection ‘Riverdance’. The highlight of the collection is the cuff bracelet and necklace. The exquisitely handcrafted cuff bracelet has a net weight of 177.40 gms and includes fine F coloured diamonds of 7.24 carats.

Scintillating Jewellery has on offer imperial chandelier earrings for the discerning women. Crafted in 36.53 gms of gold these rings are fashioned with 5.035 carats of diamonds dangling from them. Short segments with gold-framed diamonds fill in the curves that make up the body of the chandelier. The earring is priced at Rs.112500. The Gem Legacy at Square One Boutique Mall in Saket, specialises in precious and semi precious stones dressed with – what else? – diamonds in white gold.

Such being the variety isn’t it time to lose oneself in the dazzling world of diamonds?
