Violence in Margao, ban order imposed

PANAJI: The Goa government imposed Section 144 in the city of Margao, south Goa, on Friday evening to avert a communal flare-up in the wake of an incident involving a girl and a boy from two communities.

Four persons were injured in an attack by a mob. Six persons were arrested following attempts by a mob to forcibly pull down the shutters of shops in the city. Late in the evening, police said the situation was under control. Margao is the assembly constituency of Chief Minister Digambar Kamat.
