Arunkanth, Anunisha triumph

Madurai: Arunkanth of KACA Higher Secondary School and Anunisha of TVS MHSS won the junior boys and girls singles titles respectively of the District-level open table tennis tournament, organised by MDTTA, here on Friday.

The results (all-finals): Junior boys: Arunkanth bt Jayanthan (KACA HSS) 11-9, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7; Junior girls: Anunisha bt Sneka (SDH Jain School) 12-10, 11-2, 11-8; Open doubles: V. Kalyanaraman & Rippu Gupta bt Jayakumar & Praveen 11-2, 11-4, 5-11, 11-5.

The trials for the selection of the Madurai District boys and girls teams to participate in the Tamil Nadu junior inter-District athletic championship at Thiruvarur will be organised by the Madurai District Athletic Association at the Madurai MGR Race Course Stadium on July 4. Kedarnath of YRTV Matriculation HSS, Sivakasi and Nanduja of Vinayaga MHSS, Sivakasi, were leading with full points each at the end of the fourth round in boys and girls sections respectively in the Virudhunagar District junior (under-19) chess championship at Rajapalayam on Saturday.
