Rare surgery performed

A team of doctors at Manipal Super Speciality Hospital at Tadepalli here performed a rare surgery on June 10 on a pregnant woman who was suffering from right renal cancer. A press release on Saturday said only 70 such cases of simultaneous pregnancy and renal cancer were recorded in the world so far. The woman, who was 30-week pregnant, was operated upon after four more weeks of pregnancy and the doctors delivered the baby safe while also removing the tumour weighing 1.1 kg.
