Held with fake passport

CHENNAI: The Immigration authorities at the Anna international terminal arrested a man from Gujarat on charges of holding a fake passport, when he came to board a Toronto-bound Jet flight from Chennai on Friday midnight.

The authorities said Maheshbhai Patel came with a passport in the name of Manoj Kumar Vipuldas Lambachia. Immigration authorities said the arrested passenger arrived in Chennai a week ago after getting a fake passport from an agent in Mumbai.

To avoid security check by Jet Airways, the passenger, on Friday morning, went to Madurai and boarded a Jet Airways flight to Chennai. At Madurai the passenger got a through check-in for the Toronto Jet flight. When he came to the Immigration counter to complete the formalities, he was secured by the authorities and handed over to the local police.
