Ten share lead

VIJAYAWADA: World under-8 champion and top seed Ch. Mohineesh of Vizag defeated Ch. Siddhartha Bhaskar in the second round of the State under-11 chess tournament for boys and girls held at Vasavi Kalyanamandam at Tadepalligudam on Saturday. Ten players, including Mohineesh, lead the table with two points.

Washed out

The second day’s play between Krishna-Prakasam and Guntur-West Godavari in the ACA Central Zone u-19 inter-district tournament for Koka Ranga Rao Memorial Trophy was washed out due to heavy rain on Saturday.

Four teams shared one point each.

The scores: Prakasam 107 for nine in 42.5 overs vs. Krishna; Guntur 73 for no loss vs. West Godavari.

ANU to host major events

Acharya Nagarjuna University will organise the South Zone inter-university kabaddi championship for men in October and the South-West Zone and all-India inter-university kho-kho championship in December-January 2009.
