Andhra Pradesh

Indira Raj is here

The Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Government is reminding us of the dark days of emergency by arresting the editor of Andhra Jyothi and two other journalists on the midnight of June 24. Perhaps, the much touted Indira Raj is again ushered in.

Replace OMR system

The OMR answer sheet system and the mode of conduct of undergraduate and post-graduate examinations by Andhra University in March this year were highly confusing. Also, the name of the candidate along with his register number appears on the face of the answer book which leaves scope for manipulations.

Besides, it is a waste of money for the students and benefit to the authorities with commercial bent of mind.

I suggest they revert to old system for the convenience of students.

Metro Express buses needed

The APSRTC should run Metro Express buses like metro trains to stop and start in every stage with express speed. The number of buses from RTC Complex to Gajuwaka, Simhachalam and Pendurthi should also be increased. Besides, the student passes should be allowed in metro services to reduce extra rush in ordinary buses.

GVMC has to maintain quality

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) administration needs to feel more concerned about the quality of works it executes. I wish to cite the example of GVMC’s own new building itself, a gigantic structure constructed a couple of years ago.

Once you enter the gate of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation main office, the quality lapses are quite visible to the naked eye.

You find broken tiles and the floor is in damaged condition.

If the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation fails to maintain quality in its own case, how can it ensure quality in other public works?

It should keep in mind that every expenditure will ultimately become a burden on the tax payers.

Overflowing dumper bins

Some of the dumper bins kept by GVMC in the streets are overflowing and emanating foul smell which is causing inconvenience to passers by.

Dogs, in a hurry to search for food, disperse the wastes in the dumper bin to further worsen the condition. The GVMC should look for remedial measures.
