Chidananda Award presented

BANGALORE: Writer and senior researcher Srinivasa Havanoor was on Saturday honoured with the 16th Chidananda Award in recognition of his contribution to the development of Kannada literature.

The award was presented by lexicographer and scholar G. Venkatasubbaiah. It carries a purse of Rs. 10,000.

S.L. Srinivasa Murthy, Head of the Kannada Department, Vijaya Pre-University college, Bangalore, spoke on the contribution of Mr. Havanoor.

Speaking after receiving the award Mr. Havanoor said: “Today the value of doctoral theses have been decaying and it has become easy to get a Ph.D. It is our duty to keep its value forever by giving no room to fake research.”
