Not a right decision

Decks might be cleared for Chiranjeevi’s entry into politics (The Hindu, June 18) but his assumption that people are with him does not have full cognizance as many heroes of his age and talent have innumerable people behind them. Even TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao could not garner total support despite that period being totally different. The present Congress government is not facing anti-incumbency factor and TDP, TRS have support to twist the scales. It can be noted that his personal campaign in favour of Aswini Dutt in Parliamentary election did not yield any result. As an ardent fan of Chiranjeevi I suggest he devote himself to social activities instead of entering politics.

Plea to JNTU

Several students secured slightly less than 60 per cent (59.73 p.c.) marks in the recently declared final year B.Tech., thus missing the first division by a whisker. In such cases the candidate may not be considered for campus recruitment, leave alone securing jobs on their own in IT industries. I earnestly request the JNTU Academic Council to consider such cases sympathetically and do the needful.

Marriage registration must

The apex court has made registration of marriages compulsory to all religions. It is to note that registrars at the Sub-registrar of Marriage in the State must rise to the occasion and ensure that it is done.

Prior to this, wide publicity should be given in all vernacular newspapers. Marriage halls should display the address and telephone numbers where the couple could register their marriages.

Halls not complying with this should be penalised.

RTC service to airport

The Bengalur Airport is also located far away from the city, yet the Bangalore Transport has launched Volvo bus service on nine routes. The maximum fare is Rs.150 and there are pick and drop points in between. The buses are specially made to suit the passengers’ needs such as baggage space.

This is something that needed to be emulated by the APSRTC. Though the buses of GMR are welcome, there are no pick and drops, inconveniencing the passengers. Should the transport to the airport also be monopolised by the GMR? Why can’t the APSRTC serve people like its counterpart in Bengaluru?
