CHENNAI: A man was arrested on Sunday on charges of cheating a software engineer. According to the police, Sudha Madhuri (23) was staying with a few friends in a hostel in Kilpauk. On July 23, 2007, Ms. Madhuri received a call from Rajeswaran, who identified himself as a detective agent. He told her that his agency had received a complaint that Ms. Madhuri had been misusing the ATM cards of her friends. The agency had decided to settle the case for a payment of Rs. 25,000. Ms. Madhuri paid the money accordingly. Two months later, Rajeswaran asked for Rs. 10,000, which Ms. Madhuri paid. A few days later, he called again and asked for Rs. 20,000.
