‘TDP gripped by No.2 phobia’

HYDERABAD: The Congress has said that the Telugu Desam Party is gripped by the number two position phobia, which has led to tension among the leaders.

Referring to the statements being made by the TDP leaders that there was no number two position in the party, Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy, Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana and others said that TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu was faced with a piquant situation after the exit of senior leader T. Devender Goud from the party.

“Ever since Mr. Goud quit the TDP, many leaders are a worried lot. The decision of Rajya Sabha member Nandamuri Harikrishna to hold teleconference with the party leaders led to an impression that he had occupied number two position in the party,” Mr. Reddy told reporters here on Saturday.

He pointed out that emergence of Mr. Harikrishna and the active role played by him in the party affairs had created panic among the leaders. The knee-jerk reaction of Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and M.V. Mysoora Reddy, only demonstrated their anxiety and fear, the Ministers remarked.

They said the TDP was in a state of confusion as several seniors like Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao, Jyothula Nehru, E. Peddi Reddy, Reddy Satyanarayana and others quit .
