DCC chiefs allowed to contest polls

HYDERABAD: The Congress has decided to allow the District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents to contest the next elections.

On the eve of the district units’ revamp for the elections, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president D. Srinivas is scouting for persons who command the goodwill of the cadres. The revamped DCCs’ list will be announced in the first half of July.

In the 2004 elections, some DCC presidents lost the race for party tickets.

Some were accommodated later in the Legislative Council or made chairpersons of corporations.
