Mohineesh triumphs

VIJAYAWADA: World under-8 champion Ch. Mohineesh emerged victorious with six points in the two-day State under-11 chess championship for boys and girls that concluded at Vasavi Kalyanamandapam at Tadepalligudem on Sunday.

Hyderabad’s K. Praneeth Surya, who garnered six points, took the second spot under progressive scoring.

Abhimanyu shines

Krishna shot out West Godavari for 59 to clinch a first innings lead of 124 runs in the two-day ACA Central Zone under-19 inter-district tournament for Koka Ranga Rao Memorial Trophy here on Sunday.

Earlier, Krishna scored 183 in 56.5 overs.

The scores: Krishna 183 in 56.5 overs (Y. Abhimanyu 51) and two for one in three overs vs. West Godavari 59 in 24.1 overs.

Guntur 218 in 83.2 overs (Nagaraju 67, K. Ramesh four for 36) vs. Prakasam seven for one in five overs.
