Thumping win for N. Srinivasan
KEEPS CHARGE: TNCA President N. Srinivasan after winning the elections in an emphatic manner on Sunday.
Chennai: N. Srinivasan and his team scored a clean sweep over the A.C. Muthiah led group in the annual elections of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium here on Sunday.
For the post of the president, Mr. Srinivasan, the incumbent, scored a thumping victory over Mr. Muthiah. Mr. Srinivasan secured 134 votes and Mr. Muthiah, 55.
The supporters of Mr. Srinivasan burst firecrackers to celebrate his seventh successive term as the TNCA president. A beaming Mr. Srinivasan said, “It is a reward for the work we have put in. I am very happy. We will continue to do our best.”
There were convincing wins for all the members of his team. K.L. Balajee’s 71 was the highest tally secured by the opposition group. He, however, lost the race for the post of the joint secretary to Dr. G. Natarajan (120).
In the election for the post of the secretary, K.S. Viswanathan defeated Shanti Kumbhat 142 to 49. “It is a team effort and a recognition of our performance,” he said.
U. Prabhakar Rao (136), K.V. Aiyappan (133), C.R. Vijayaraghavan (127) and D.N. Seshagiri (125) were elected vice-presidents.
The election process went through smoothly. S. Raghavan, D.V. Sundar and M. Usman were appointed Tellers.
It was the 78th Annual General Meeting of the TNCA.

For President (invalid votes 2): N. Srinivasan 134 votes; A.C. Muthiah 55.
Vice-Presidents (City, invalid votes nil): Elected: U. Prabhakar Rao 136; K.V. Aiyappan 133; C.R. Vijayaraghavan 127; D.N. Seshagiri 125. Not elected: V. Muthukrishnan 61; D. Sivanandam 59, J. Devarajan 55, A.S. Venkateswaran 51.
Vice-Presidents (Districts): N.R. Manivannan, K.G. Muralidharan (both elected unanimously).
Honorary Secretary (invalid votes nil): K.S.Viswanathan 142; Shanti Kumbhat 49. Honorary Joint Secretary (invalid votes nil): Dr. G. Natarajan 120; K.L. Balajee 71.
Honorary Assistant Secretary: D. Julius Vijayakumar (elected unanimously).
Honorary Treasurer (invalid votes nil): S. Ganesan 137 votes; J. Parthasarathy 54 votes.
