In unison: Cadres of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam staging a demonstration in front of the taluk office in Krishnagiri on Monday in protest against the increase in the prices of essential commodities and fuel. Krishnagiri: Cadres of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) staged a demonstration in front of the Revenue Divisional Office here on Monday in protest against the rise in prices of essential commodities and fuel. The members raised slogans against the steep rise in prices and criticised the Centre as well as the State Government for ‘failing’ to check the price rise. They also pointed out that the increase in the prices of construction materials including cement, steel and sand had rendered many labourers jobless. Inflation in the country had touched a 13-year high of 11.42 per cent. The low and middle income families bore the brunt of the price rise, they added. Earlier, the cadres took out a procession from Chennai Road to the Revenue Divisional Office. District secretary, DMDK, Chandran, led the protest. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
