Birthday cake: The senior Congress leader K. Karunakaran celebrating his 90th birthday at Guruvayur on Monday. Guruvayur: Senior Congress leader K. Karunakaran has said that the attitude of the party towards his supporters will influence the results of the next parliamentary elections. “I am happy about having returned to the Congress, but not about the way my supporters are being treated in the party. Fearing that they will lose their positions, some people are working against my supporters. Further delay in giving suitable positions to my supporters will make matters worse. The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee will have to answer for the consequences,” he told reporters here on Sunday after visiting Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple on his 90th birthday. Mr. Karunakaran called for unity in the Congress. “If all of us stand together, we will win the race,” the veteran added. He offered ‘thulabharam’ at the temple. The District Congress Committee threw a birthday feast at Maharaja’s Auditorium. Hundreds of people gathered at the Sreevalsam Guest House, where he stayed, to felicitate him. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
