Inflation will reflect in votes

The tight situation in the case of money flow, steps to contain inflation and increase in prices of various items are the concerns of the Finance Ministry in theoretical sense.

But the concern as to how to increase the purchasing power of the poor to cope up with the price increase is obviously absent. Though the poor and the common electorates will not go or bother about the global phenomenon of rising prices, the miseries of their day to day life, owing to the cost escalation will be reflected at the time of casting their votes.

Name airport after Kattabomman

The Tuticorin airport has been catering to the travel needs of the people hailing from the southern districts of Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari. But incidentally, the airport is yet to be named formally. It may be recalled that freedom fighter Kattabomman raised a banner of revolt against the injustice and inequality in society during the days of freedom struggle. As a fitting tribute to Kattabomman, the airport authorities concerned should take steps to name the Tuticorin airport after Kattabomman.

Stray cattle menace

The problem of stray cattle in Tiruchendur gets worse day by day. They can be seen moving around freely on the streets from dawn to dusk and some of them rest in the Pandal Mandapam and the others elsewhere.

The premises of Subramaniya Swamy Temple are also not spared and the east side corridor has become a shelter for these cattle.

I would also like to point out here that apart from cattle, stray dogs and pigs in large numbers too wander in the entire town.

I request the authorities concerned to prevent the movement of animals on roads and temple premises with a warning to their owners.

K.K. Krishnamoorthy,

Tiruchendur.
