Canara Bank starts loan waiver

Bangalore: Canara Bank has announced the list of farmers for its loan waiver scheme in all 1,795 branches handling agricultural loans between June 26 and June 28. The list was published after an audit. The bank has deployed nearly 1,000 officials on special duty to ensure effective implementation of the scheme.

Chairman and Managing Director of the bank M.B.N. Rao visited the Harohalli branch in Ramanagaram district on Monday and verified the list displayed at the branch and reviewed the progress of the scheme. Mr. Rao said the debt relief package announced by the Government would benefit nearly six lakh farmers.

G.S. Vedi, executive director of the bank, visited the Bidadi branch in Ramanagaram district and verified the list of farmers and issued certificates to the eligible farmers.

SBM completes process

The State Bank of Mysore has finalised the list of beneficiaries of its farm loan waiver and debt relief package. About 71,000 beneficiaries are to benefit from the debt waiver, which will cost the bank Rs. 235.52 crore. Additionally, 37,000 account holders will benefit from debt relief, which will cost the bank Rs. 120.65 crore. The package, totalling Rs. 356.17 crore, will benefit 1.08 lakh farmers.

P.P. Pattanayak, managing director of the bank, issued certificates to eligible farmers of the Bidadi and Ramanagaram branches of the bank on Monday.

The list of beneficiaries has been displayed on the notice boards of the concerned branches to ensure transparency.
