CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government issued an official order on Monday announcing a subsidy of Rs.30 for households having single-cylinder LPG connection. Detailing the procedures to be followed, the order stated that a list of households with domestic LPG connections of single and double cylinders, and the number of single cylinders, was issued in May 2008. The government would pay an advance towards the subsidy to the distributors for supplies to be made in July and August. LPG cylinder distributors should take note of the numbers of the ration card and maintain separate details of the bill list. The Order also stated that the government would provide a subsidy of Rs.30 on each cylinder weighing 14.2 kg. For 5-kg cylinder, Rs.11 would be provided as subsidy. The government would provide Rs.1000 per month to oil company distributors for preparing the bills and related information. The government said it would make available Rs.18 crore as first instalment to the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Department towards the subsidy. The G.O. has been issued following Chief Minister’s M. Karunanidhi’s announcement at the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s women’s wing conclave held recently in Cuddalore. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
