Prakash, Ashwini win

BANGALORE: The top seeds, Prakash Jolly and Ashwini Ponnappa claimed the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively in the Sundebai Solanki State-ranking badminton championship which concluded at Tumkur on Tuesday.

Jolly rallied to beat Mohit Kamath 15-21, 23-21, 21-10, while Ashwini defeated the 2007 National junior champion Ruth Misha 21-16, 21-19. D. Guru Prasad and Vineet Manuel claimed the men’s doubles title after their rivals, B.S. Phaulgun and Mohit Kamath conceded the final tie after Kamath developed back pain.

Guru Prasad and Vineet Manuel led 70-0 at that stage. — Special Correspondent
