Unaided schools happy

Bangalore: The verdict of the High Court has come as a relief for about 3,000 unaided schools, which faced uncertainty ever since the Government decided to derecognise them for flouting the State’s language policy in the middle of the academic year in September 2006.

Many schools that had made fresh admissions to classes 1 and 2 in Kannada medium as per the Government’s direction have decided to switch back to English medium after Tuesday’s order.

“The verdict means that the Government can no longer interfere with our work,” said G.S. Sharma, Karnataka Unaided School Managements Association (KUSMA), which has been fighting against de-recognition.
