NEW DELHI: Ahead of the much-awaited launch of Apple’s i-Phone in India, leading mobile handset manufacturer Nokia on Thursday consolidated its smartphone offerings by unveiling two new handsets — E71 and E66 — priced at Rs. 22,949 and Rs. 23,689, respectively. “The launch of two stylish email-optimised devices from the E-series product range reiterates the potential of business mobility in India. The two handsets deliver an unmatched combination of advanced technologies, network connectivity options and stylish design,” Nokia’s Director (Marketing), Devinder Kishore, said at a press conference here. Both the handsets easily mobilise a broad range of personal or professional messaging needs, including Microsoft Exchange, the world’s most widely adopted corporate e-mail solution. With these Nokia E-series devices, people can get reliable real-time access to their e-mail, calendar, contacts and tasks, as well as download attachments such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint or PDF files directly on their devices. According to Mr. Kishore, “Enterprise mobility is here to stay in India with wider acceptance of push e-mail among corporates and prosumers (professional consumers). With these two new devices, we are well positioned to address the needs of consumers, high-end users and mobile professionals alike.” On the occasion, Nokia also presented the findings of a third party research on “Mapping the enterprise mobility adoption in India” that mapped the behavioural and usage of over 1,500 prosumers and over 200 enterprise users in over five locations in India (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai). Push e-mail emerged as the most widely used application among enterprise users, while SMS and SMS applications emerged as the most used productivity enhancement applications among prosumers. According to the research findings, 60 per cent of non-user prosumers are keen on reaping benefits of enterprise mobility in the next one year. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
