Two killed in Manipur encounters

Imphal: Two armed activists have been killed in separate encounters with combined forces of police and Assam Rifles in Manipur, the police said.

One of them was killed during a 10-minute gunbattle at Phoubokchao village in Thoubal district in the early hours of Thursday.

Pistol recovered

His body and one 9mm pistol with five rounds were recovered from the spot.

The other activists escaped. Another activist was killed in the encounter in the Langol Hill area in Imphal West district on Wednesday night.

One .38 revolver with two rounds of ammunition was recovered. — PTI
