NEW DELHI: The prize-money for this year’s Indian Open golf championship will be doubled to one million dollars. Hero Honda, the title-sponsor of golf’s flagship event in the country, announced on Thursday that the 45th edition of the event to be held here from October 9 to 12 would be a millon-dollar event. In a statement released here, Hero Honda’s Pawan Munjal said, “We will continue to keep increasing the prize money in the coming years, thereby making the Indian Open grow in stature. I am sure the event will now attract more marquee players from the international arena, which will add to its increasing popularity.” — Special Correspondent © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
