SI’s body recovered

VISAKHAPATNAM: Body of Munchingput Sub-Inspector Jallu Sankara Rao, was one of the six bodies recovered on Thursday from the launch that was sunk by Maoists in Chitrakonda (Balimela) reservoir in Orissa on Sunday.

The SI accompanied the Greyhounds party into Orissa to help them in the combing operations.

Bodies of the following were also recovered (with their native districts in brackets: Reserve Sub-Inspector S. Ramamurthy (Srikakulam); Greyhound constables M. Anjaneyulu (Prakasam), M. Salauddin (Mahaboobnagar) and Kiran Kumar (Karimnagar) and Orissa police constable Ranjan Kumar of Chitrakonda. Body of Ranjan Kumar was handed over to his family in Orissa while other five bodies were sent here by helicopter for post-mortem in Andhra Medical College’s mortuary in KGH premises. Salauddin’s body was handed over to his uncles after performing post-mortem. Bodies of other four victims were brought here in the evening and the post-mortem was completed by night. Additional Director -eneral of Police (law and order) A.K. Khan, who was Commissioner of Police here in the past, along with CP N. Sambasiva Rao, DIG (Visakha Range) Sandeep Shandilya, DIG (Greyhounds) Govind Singh and other officers offered floral tributes to the bodies. The bodies were later handed over to their families. The police made arrangements for the transport of the bodies to their native places.
