Residents’ associations to interact with administration

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Representatives of the Ernakulam District Residents’ Associations Apex Council (EDRAAC) have started working towards establishing platforms of interaction with various departments coming under the district administration.

The move comes after the successful establishment of interfaces with the City Police and the Kerala State Electricity Board. The Police-Residents’ Associations Initiative in District Ernakulam (PRIDE) completed three years, while the People Electricity Association for Coordinated Effort (PEACE) was launched three months ago.

“A meeting with residents’ associations will be held on July 20 at the Town Hall here to prepare a blueprint of the proposed interface,” said District Collector M. Beena.

During the first phase, the residents’ associations are planning to establish platforms with general administration at the Collectorate, departments of health, excise, Kerala Water Authority, Regional Transport Office and Public Works Department.

“We are planning to promote the small bio-gas units,” said P. Rangadasa Prabhu, president of the EDRAAC.
