Health Matters: Additional Director of Medical Education T. Ravi Raju speaking at the cardiology camp held in the city on Thursday. VISAKHAPATNAM: A cardiology camp was conducted by the Veluvolu Trust as part of the birthday celebrations of former MP and GITAM chairman M.V.V.S. Murthi here on Thursday. Additional Director of Medical Education T. Ravi Raju, who inaugurated the camp, said India could contain heart diseases due to specialised treatment on par with the USA. He said it was good to see a noted cardiologist Siva Prasad Reddy conducting the camp. Dr. Ravi Raju also appreciated Dr. Murthi for setting up GITAM University. Dr. Siva Prasada Reddy said every one must get tested regularly to prevent heart attacks and other cardiac problems as early detection would be very helpful. Tests like blood sugar, BP, ECG and heart scan, worth Rs. 2,000, were being conducted on every one at the camp. Alla Srinivasa Rao, corporator of the 19th division, said he had been conducting health camps regularly in his division. Trust chairman V. Basavapunnayya, who presided over the function, appreciated Dr. Murthi’s qualities. Dental campLater, former Mayor D.V. Subba Rao inaugurated a dental camp organised by the trust at Nirmala Upper Primary School, Gnanapuram. Telugu Desam leader Erothu Mariadas and others spoke.
