Announcement against textbook in mosques

Kozhikode: An announcement demanding withdrawal of the controversial Class VII Social Science textbook was made at mosques in the State on Friday, according to a statement issued here by the Coordination Committee of Muslim Organisations.

The action was part of the protests and agitations announced by the committee. It requested all the concerned to make the ‘agitation declaration meeting’ to be held here on July 9 a success.

The meeting, scheduled to be held in Kozhikode on July 5, was postponed to July 9 following the demise of former Wakf Board chairman Panakkad Syed Umerali Shihab Thangal, convener of the committee K. Moyinkutty said in a release.
