KOLKATA: West Bengal Health Minister Surjya Kanta Mishra has ordered a probe into the incident in which an infant was found alive less than 12 hours after it was declared stillborn at a city clinic earlier this week. “Two doctors from the Health Department have been assigned to inquire into the matter,” Director Sanchita Bakshi said here on Friday. The probe report would be submitted to the Medical Council of India or the Indian Nursing Council if any doctor or nurse was found to have been negligent at the time of the birth of the male child. The child’s condition remains critical though it has improved compared to the past three days, says a bulletin issued by the Calcutta Medical Research Institute. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
