Applications called for industrial training courses

CHENNAI: Students who have passed their Standard X or XII examinations and are interested to take up three-month short term industrial training in various courses can apply to the Chennai Corporation’s Community Colleges at Triplicane and Seven Wells.

A press release said the Community College at 24, Arunachalam Street, Triplicane, would offer courses on Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), customer relations and sales, and hospitality services.

The Community College situated at 38, Naattu Pillyar Koil Street, Seven Wells would offer courses on BPO, Information Technology enabled services, electrical technician, and cutting and tailoring.

Applications could be had from these two institutions or from the Coordinator, Community Colleges, Rippon Building.

The forms are each priced at Rs.10. Filled in applications should be submitted before July 15.

Priority would be given to the students who have passed out of Corporation schools. Applying students must be in the 18-25 age group.

The release also said that students residing within the Corporation limits only need to apply.

Following requests from beach walkers, the Chennai Corporation on Friday cleaned the Thiruvanmiyur beach.

A press release said around 20 Corporation staff removed garbage and bushes and creepers that covered the sand.

A JCB was pressed into service. The Zonal Officer Sampath over saw the cleaning operations.
