NEW DELHI: Three young men, including a municipal councillor from Behjoi in Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested by the South Delhi police for alleged involvement in auto-lifting cases. The police claim to have recovered three stolen vans and parts of several other vehicles at their instance. Two of the accused, Mukesh and Kabeer, were arrested on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road when they were travelling in a stolen Maruti van on June 19. The vehicle was found stolen from Molarband Extension in Badarpur. During interrogation, the accused purportedly disclosed that they had been stealing vehicles from different parts of South Delhi for the past one year. They claimed that they used to dispose of the stolen vehicles for Rs.20,000 each to Amit, a resident of Moradabad in U.P. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
