Many excluded from waiver list

Kozhikode: Hundreds of farmers who believed that they would be beneficiaries of the Centre’s loan waiver scheme have not figured in the lists notified by the banks. Officials in the district say that the banks had to comply with the stringent guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in implementing the agricultural debt waiver and debt relief scheme. The list of eligible borrowers has been displayed in all banks. If any borrower is not included in the bank he/she can take up the case with Grievance Redressal Officer within a month.

As of now over a lakh farmers will get the benefit to the tune of Rs.307.77 crore in Wayanad district. Farm loans of about Rs.175.80 crore will be waived in Kozhikode district.
