STC is champion

HYDERABAD: Sports Training Centre (Secunderabad) emerged champion in the South Zone inter-SAI STC hockey championship for boys with a 3-1 win over STC (Chennai) in the final at Begumpet Police Stadium here on Saturday.

R. Rasool Khan, Arvind and Md. Yawar, who converted a penalty corner, scored for the home team. For Chennai T. Vinod Kumar scored.

Earlier in the semifinals, STC (Chennai) defeated STC (Kollam) 3-1 with Hyder Ali and Vinod (2) scoring. For the losers Adarsh reduced the margin. In another semifinal, STC (Secunderabad) put it across a fighting STC (Bangalore) 5-4 via sudden death.

Easy for Bhavan’s

Bhavan’s College defeated Loyola College 4-0 in the Sachdev Sports Cup inter-Collegiate football here on Saturday.

Wingers Joshua and Prithvi netted a brace each for the winner.

In another match, Little Flower College scored a 7-5 in a tie-breaker over JSN College. The teams were locked 2-2 at full time with Santosh and Shankar scoring for Little Flower and Kiran and Arun for JSN. In the tie-breaker, Steven, Arvind, Vijay, Shankar and Prashanth were on target for the winner. For the loser, Arul Raj, Sunil and Manoj were successful.

Inter-college basketball
